SEO, First page of Google GUARANTEE?

None of the words in the title of this blog should be used together. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the way to make it to the first page of Google, but NO ONE can guarantee that within a specified time frame or dollar amount, don't get scammed!

SEO is a living breathing creature and thousands of other online marketers, webmasters and even business owners using D.I.Y. software are "optimizing" their site on a daily basis which changes your website's rank in the search results. It turns into a game when you are trying to optimize for a local lawyer, because I think the SEO person working with my competition is watching me, just like I am watching them and we fight for the top space for the same keywords using many different techniques. Time matters, every day your site is on the web it becomes more "mature" and is being crawled by Google for all kinds of different keywords making your site more "relevant" in more areas on the web. Just because the site does not show up in the top few pages, you are still being crawled and archived by Googlebot.

Find a marketing person, not a webmaster to SEO your website. The reason I was able to successfully land my first few clients on the first page of Google was due to my education and experience in Marketing. I teamed up with a webmaster that taught me how to implement the techniques into the website that he was building. My webmaster honestly could not define the word "target market" and would not dare worry about file names or anything else that would benefit search engines, but name files to make it easier on him to organize. Is that really what you want marketing for you? I have no clue how my partner builds the site and he has no clue how I get that traffic to come to it because they are two totally different fields of study and expertise, so together we are able to succeed with what people think are very similar projects.

So beware, and really talk to someone that wants to "market" for you online. Make sure they know what marketing even is! When you hire someone for SEO, social network integration, email blasts, and any other online campaign you may dream up, make sure you interview them like they would be marketing for you in house and see how much research they have already done on your target market. Getting a bunch of people to click on your site may help your search rank, but if no one stays or becomes a customer, what is the value?
